task 2

                                                                        Task 2

Whilst visiting The Tate Modern I saw a few video installations like “transformed visions”. This video installation was held in a large black box room with 4 screens showing different video footage from two different stories from what looked like a counseling session but with the videos all-linking together telling a story of two different experiences this man had and made into a mixed story. I will use this video installation as an inspiration to my own video installation. I will have two screens to show to different parts of my memory one showing what I saw and the other showing things around me.

Structure and Clarity

In the video installation of “structure and clarity” by Kader Attia, showed sugar cubes melting by oil the video installation symbolized the physical and historical processes affecting human constructions. the video was in a small room with black walls. The video was being projecting onto one of the black walls. Having the video being shown in a dark room really made the white sugar cubes stand out and this made the video very clear to see. The only problem with this video was that it was a little hard to understand because the oil was hard to distinguish that it was oil at first.

The area I will choose to display my video installation of memories will be in a studio that is dressed up to look like a local parks with fake grass on the floor and pictures of trees on the wall. My work would be displayed in studio with low lighting and big enough to fit around 30 people, my work would be shown on 5 old television screens. I will do this to represent the fact that people can have lots of memories. The reason I have chosen to do it in a studio disguise as a park is because most of my memory footage is based outside and I feel that if my work were presented as if it was outside people would really connect with my video.

In my video installation I will display memory video of a day when I was a child and I got hurt whilst I was playing in the playground at my primary school in my video installation I will display the leading events before the incident happened and the incident. My work will be very abstract piece.

In the studio I want to the audience to feel as if they are out side and feel that they are like a child that’s in primary school. To make this feeling come across I will have the audience all sit on the fake grass in rows, so that the audience can feel the grass beneath them and so that they are looking up at old TV’s and making them feel inferior to the screens.

In my video installation I will use a bit of voice dialogue and some music to set the scene and build tension in some parts. I will also use silences and change of lighting to light to dime to change the feeling of some footage.
