Practice Run
Before filming my animation I wanted to test the different camera angles
that I could possibly use and the different editing techniques that I could
possibly use
Through the process I feel I learnt a lot about the main camera angles that
I wanted to use such as close ups, wide shots and the different editing effects
that I could potentially use. For instance unsharp mask. Through this I also
saw that I needed more pictures to make the animation look more fluid because
in the practice run it looked really jittery and unstable So by having done
this practice run it helped me see all the things I needed to improve on like
taking more pictures and having less angles so when editing it doesn’t look as
shaky.
Real animation
I have chosen the adventure and fantasy genre with the
idea that the board games come to life and in this animation I feel that it
really represents what games would do if they had a life of there own. I choose
my animation to be about board games because I thought it would be something
new and different to watch.
I feel like the different soundtracks I included
for each game really made my animation entertaining. I feel that by having each
game playing around with there own music made the audience feel that each game
had there own personality and I think that by having the games with music from
old 90s video games which I feel really brought back childhood memories to the
audience which made them favour some of the games more that others.
I feel that my animation looked really fluid in
some games, which I really liked. I also liked that I used the unsharp effect
because it really made my animation look like a cartoon, which I thought looked
a lot more interesting then just having the original pictures I feel that
having my animation with this effect it made it more appealing to people,
because I think that generally everyone loves cartoons.
I think my animation would mostly be targeted for young adults because I
feel that the narrative was a little hard to understand at the beginning
because the story wasn’t very straight forward, which made it a little
confusing to understand at first. However, nearing the end I feel that it
became clearer to what was happening in the animation. If I were to change it I
would add some voice-overs so that the characters in the scene could explain what
was going on.
I used a few different shots like for
instance high angles, wide long shot, close ups and medium close ups. I
think by have different camera angles it made each game scene more interesting
to view rather then just having the same angle through out the scene. I think
the angles I used where relevant and necessary to make each scene entertaining
but if I was going to do it again I would involve more close ups to show
certain board game pieces more than others.
If I could have improved on any thing I would have
improved on the background setting of each board game for instance instead of
having each game be filmed in the control room I would have had different games
in different room and showing the game pieces having travelled to each room so
that the background would have looked more interesting rather than have it look
as if its all been filmed in the same location with the plain white background.
Over all I enjoyed making and editing my animation and
think it turned out pretty good.
After having
shown it to some people in my class they took my online survey and theses where
the results.
